Two people, Yakubu Abel, 26, and Richard Christopher, 22, were on Tuesday docked in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing five solar backup batteries  valued at N575,000.

Abel, a security guard, who resides in Alapere, Ketu, Lagos and Christopher, whose occupation, address was not provided, are being tried on two counts of conspiracy and stealing.

They, however, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate M.O. Tanimola.

The prosecutor, Insp. Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendants and some persons at large committed the offences on Aug. 12.

He said the defendants conspired to commit the offences at Alhaji Mohammed Close, Off Adisa Balogun, Ketu, Alapere in Lagos.

Perezi stated that the defendants allegedly trespassed and entered into the site belonging to Aitel Network Company, to steal the items worth N575,000 where they were kept.

Perezi said the offences contravened the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Tanimola granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 each with one surety each.

She ordered that the home and office addresses of the sureties must be verified and adjourned the case until Oct. 25 for mention.
