Ooni of Ife, others attend coronation of new king Oloworo of Oworo In Lagos

His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife, was on hand this weekend, as he joined other preeminent traditional rulers to witness the coronation of Oloworo of Oworo, HRM bá Muhammed Saliu Babatunde Saliu, Elebo II.

The Kosofe Post reports that the new king, HRM bá Muhammed Saliu Babatunde, ascended the throne as the 2nd Oloworo of Oworo at the ceremony in Oworonshoki, his people’s ancestral home.

While congratulating the newly installed Oloworo of Oworo, the Ooni said, “Today, the 17th day of this month, September, you are the 2nd Oloworo of Oworo Kingdom in the 21st century; a very fantastic coincidence, and we are all very delighted to welcome you on board as one of our brother kings.”

He noted that it’s been 20 years since he had a working relationship with Oworoshoki Kingdom. He added that the newly installed Oloworo facilitated the relationship.
 
“You can feel the energy in the air in the Oworonsho Kingdom; you are loved by your people. You are indeed loved by your people. I want to appeal to you; you are the father of the entire Oworonshoki Kingdom now. You are the father of the good, you are the father of the bad, and you are the father of the ugly. You have to embrace the entire kingdom of Oworonshoki people, extend a hand of fellowship to all and sundry, and make sure that your leadership is fatherly.

“I want to thank all the chiefs of the entire Oworonshoki Kingdom for all their support and their dedication, and to uphold the heritage of the Awori people.

“We are very happy. I am particularly very happy because we have a very charismatic king, a very handsome king, and an adorable king that God has bestowed on the entire Warri people, and we are all here to rejoice with you and your amiable queen today.

“God almighty and the spirit of our ancestors will continue to guide you, guard you, and lead you right in all the decisions you will be making on this throne of your forebears. We love and appreciate you, and we will work with you.”

In his brief remarks, the elated new Oloworo, while thanking the dignitaries, especially thanked the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu, who he described as a builder, mentor for his fatherly support, among others.

He assured residents of rapid infrastructure development to make the community livable for all.

The glamorous coronation event took place in Oworonshoki, Kosofe area of Lagos State, and attracted various prominent Nigerians, traditional rulers, politicians, and a host of dignitaries from far and near.

While Gbenga Adeyinka was the program anchorman , the popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM 1), thrilled the crème de la crème at the event with maximum security.

On June 15, 2022, he was announced as the Oloworo of Oworo by the Oworonshoki council of Chiefs, Oworonshoki council of elders, and religious leaders, among others, following the demise of his father and the first monarch of the Oworonshoki Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Bashr Oloruntoyin Saliu.
