Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development area, Kosofe, Lagos State, has rolled out the drums in celebration of its 2nd cultural Carnival.

From Friday, September 30 to Saturday, October 1, 2022, the Ikosi Isheri local council development area has lined up a series of programmes for residents of Lagos state.

The 2022 Kosi Isheri Ketu Magodo annual cultural Carnival edition, tagged “our culture, not our religion,” was hosted in 2021 by the Council Chairman, Princess Samiat Bada, to promote tourism and cultural lifestyle needs.

These include carnival floats; pageantry, with over a hundred beautifully dressed dancers; cultural dance troupes with a masquerade; A-list Hip Hop, Fuji, and Afro Juju artist performances; children’s games section; among others.

Speaking on the forthcoming cultural carnival, the Chief Host , Oluomo Kosofe, Princess Samiat Bada, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi Isheri, during a press conference on Monday, said: “Ikosi Isheri Ketu Magodo annual cultural Carnival, would be loaded with creative performers to entertain the people and tourists.”

K1 De Ultimate, Abass Akande, Pasumo Wonder, Wasiu Ishola Haruna, and Veteran Afro-juju musician Sir Shina Peters will perform live, as will Afrobeats superstars Qdot, Bella Shmurda, OT, Owen G, and DJ Sebastian.

Other celebrities include Said Balogun, Koffi, and Lepacious Bose.
She stated that the cultural carnival is consistent with the governor Sanwo-Olu-led administration’s theme agenda in the areas of entertainment and tourism under the Lagos State Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Tourism.

While fielding questions from the pressmen, she noted that the council is the most peaceful area. Moreover, the event will promote unity, peace, and progress among the various ethnic groups.

She said: “When we did it last year, we brought all these ethnic groups together, and we preached like campaigning to them that Ikosi isheri is one community that encourages and accommodates people without discrimination.”

The Kosofe Post reports that an experienced member of the famous Fanti Carnival, Hon. Kehinde Fatoki, is the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the event.
