A Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye, has collaborated with the Office of Special Assistant to the Presidency on SDGs to empower 203 constituents of Kosofe Federal Constituency with start-up capital worth N10 million.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Agunsoye said this during the Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye Empowerment Programme in Kosofe on Friday.

Agubsoye, represented by Mr. Durotimi Adeboye, explained that the gesture was aimed at empowering the people of his constituency to be economically independent.

The lawmaker said he offered N50,000 each to 203 people trained by Dorcella Company Limited in catering and management skills acquisition programmes, and Certificates of Participation were issued to them.

Agunsoye explained that the gesture was in fulfillment of his campaign promises made to the people, aimed at engaging them in useful ventures.

He went on to say that the gesture was motivated by his desire to help people in the current economic situation.

According to him, today is another in our long series of empowerment programs and we have about 200 individuals here, residents of Kosofe Federal Constituency.

He said: “Another set of Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye empowerment programmes are being trained as we speak in the area of catering and catering management. After that, the training funds will allow them to go on to set up their own businesses.

“Some of them are already in the catering industry, working already, but the funds that they will get will further enhance their operating capital. It will also inspire their businesses and empower them further to be able to contribute to their families.

“Some of them have remained breadwinners for their families. Now that they’re going to be empowered and have access to increased trading capital, we expect them to do well and better for themselves.

“Hence, the Rotimi Agunsoye empowerment program is part of All Progress Congress policy to get political leaders to continually support and empower their constituents to appreciate the party and enjoy the benefits of democracy.

“As you know right now, our party is asking for something from this entire nation. Our leader, Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Jagaban, is aiming to become the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. These are the same people that will vote for him.

“So, some of his top followers, among whom is the Honourable Rotimi Agunsoye, are doing this not just for themselves but to achieve that bigger and greater goal, which I trust that God almighty will allow us to achieve.”

Agunsoye urged the beneficiaries to use the start-up capital to be self-reliant and to improve their standard of living and that of their family members.

He noted that the opportunity was now in their hand to improve their own lives to make life easier for their dependants.

The lawmaker said he trusted that their hearts would be inclined to maintain integrity to support their family genuinely with this empowerment program.

Commenting, APC Chieftains Alhaji Bankole and Samuel Omowo commended Agunsoye for touching the lives of the people of his constituency positively.

They prayed for higher promotion for the lawmaker, adding that no representative had done so in the history of Kosofe politics.

Two of the beneficiaries, Aminu Musa and Funlola Adeleke, thanked the lawmaker for the gesture and assured him of their support at all times.

According to Aminu, the Honourable Rotimi Agunsoye has been doing a lot since he became our representative. He has been doing empowerment programmes.

“If I could recall, this should be about the 9th or 10th empowerment program. “In every empowerment he tried to carry us alone, either the Hausa of Agboyi ketu, the Hausa in Ikosi Isheri, or the Kosofe federal constituency entirely,” he said.

According to the Kosofe Posts, in addition to the empowerment programmes, motions, and bills credited to the lawmaker, he also facilitated various zonal intervention projects in the Kosofe Federal Constituency.
