Laments Okada Ban in Kosofe

…Highly Optimistic PDP winning Federal, Lagos

By Bilesanmi Abayomi

the two-term Peoples Democratic Party Ward Chairman for Anthony, Mende-Maryland, WARD C, Kosofe, Prince Benedict and Okocha, has condemned lawmakers who choose to represent selected members of their party over the public interest.

Okocha, who also doubles as General Secretary of Kosofe PDP Ward Chairmen’s Forum, made the disclosure to Kosofe Post recently when asked about the performance of the lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawo.

He said, “As a good politician who still wants the votes of his people in a community where you’re living, in a jurisdiction where your representations cover, you have to deem it necessary to make sure that all parties, either APC, PDP, Labour, whatever, or every inhabitant of your constituency are included in your government. You mean that anybody can walk up to you for help because you are representing the whole community, not representing a singular political party. So as you are elected into an office, you should know that anybody from the community can approach you for work assistant and financial assistant thereabouts.

“One thing I am seeing is that the way they are supposed to have networked their work is because, as a good politician, they know where their opposition lies, and that’s also where you will channel your work to. You know, you will extend it to them so that at least two or more consciences will have a sympathy vote for you since you are still aspiring to be in the office. If you look at our valley, there’s no impact of any government over here. They felt that everybody down here was PDP  but it doesn’t sound or work that way because you are representing all the whole community.”

He noted that if he was opportune to be just a councilor, he would represent all without discrimination.

“If I have the opportunity to become a councillor, or any position, at least I will do my best possible to make sure I carry the community along. You can not give everybody money. There are other things you can do that the community can benefit from, even when you have opposition. When they are benefiting, many of them may have a change of mind and say, “This man has tried for us. Let’s do this together. But, in the absence of nothing, there is a counterproductive nature to anything one is doing,” Okocha said.

Commenting on the 2023 general election and the level of preparedness of his party, PDP Okocha said the party was well prepared and optimistic that the party would coast home to victory.

“I am highly optimistic that our party will win in 2023 because the current administration has failed us woefully in all ramifications. You can see that the cost of living is very high.
Secondly, look at people struggling to survive. Then, there’s no work or health care that people can even get. People are struggling to survive, and the cost of living is very high. How much is a bag of rice? We were buying rice Royal Stallion rice for 8000 per bag. How much did Jonathan or PDP leave at the fuel pump? It was only 73 naira then. Imagine the situation when they gathered at Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota to criticize and crucify Jonathan. They were telling Nigerians then that they would bring fuel pump prices to 45 per litre, all kinds of promises, but yet they demonically dissuaded people of their will to vote them in through their manipulations. Since they assumed office, they have not done anything so far for Nigerians to even vote for them.

“Looking at the killings, is this the endsars killing we’re going to discuss? Is this the country’s current situation now that Okada is no longer working? People are suffering. Come to the street to see. The okada that are not working on highways, the ones that are working on inner streets, have subjected them to abject poverty. They have forgotten that there are people selling spare parts and the government collects tax from them. Yet, you chase them out of the street.”

Continuing, he says, “Expressway restrictions are understandable, because they pose a high risk for anybody that is plying the highways.” But for the street, a commercialized area, they ban Okada and subject them to abject poverty. Now you expect that people will forget all these things. So, it’s time for the APC to be voted out of power because when the PDP was in power, everything was fine: people were eating; people were fine. If you go to the markets with 3500, you know what you’ll buy. So, I am confident that by 2023, we will have won both the Federal and Lagos elections.

Okocha stated that, “Jandor, coupled with his deputy, Funke Akindele, are candidates to beat. They are doing a lot of work to make sure that Lagos is being delivered out of this demonic change used to dissuade Lagos.”
