My attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the All Progressives Congress House of Representatives Candidate for Kosofe Federal Constituency Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara where she was quoted as stating that an unspecified large amount of money was given to her by the incumbent House of Representatives Members Hon. Prince Rotimi Agunsoye in support of her electioneering campaign.

This statement since it was made and bruited about has been generating huge controversy among our party members most especially among the loyalists of our Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye with several calls being made to me to confirm its veracity.

I, hereby, wish to use this medium to clear the air on this matter and state categorically that Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye did at no time give an unspecified amount of money to Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara or her campaign team. The statement is mendacious and a blatant lie from a pit of hell. There is no scintilla of truth in it.

To the best of my knowledge, based on the personal discussion I had with him over the repugnant claim, there was no particular point in time that he gave Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara or her campaign team an unspecified amount of money either by cash or via bank transfer. He is not even in possession of her bank details.

He only rendered financial assistance to two campaign teams when he was approached. And the campaign teams are that of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

These are totally different from Kafilat Ogbara and her campaign team.

Ipso facto, Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara’s statement is a mischievous and premeditated fabrication of the actual financial support Hon Agunsoye rendered to two support groups who approached him for assistance.

And it is a calculated attempt to disparage Hon Rotimi Agunsoye and cause disaffection among his loyalists. It is a ploy to hoodwink them into getting their support without due and proper consultation with Hon Rotimi Agunsoye himself.

I am not taken aback by the deceitful step or negative strategy employed by Alhaja Kafilat Ogbara and her supporters. This has always been their trademark. This is the type of lie they have been peddling against Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye. And some gullible ones among us have fallen flat for their lies and deceit.

Let it be known that Hon. Prince Rotimi Agunsoye is a vastly experienced politician and a man of integrity. He knows the right things to do and the right way to do them. He would never descend so low to take such political unwise step.

I, therefore, urge our party members to kindly ignore this mischievous statement and focus all their attention and energy on canvassing support for our incoming president Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
