… Appeals to All Arms of Govt. to give Agboyi Link bridge

High Chief Ogunseye Ebenezer Babatunde, who during the week conferred the chieftaincy title of Akogun of Agboyi, has said he feels honored.

He was among the new chiefs honored by Olu of Agboyi as part of activities to mark the monarch’s second anniversary held at Police Barrack Ogudu yesterday.

Speaking with the Kosofe Post at the venue Elated Chief Ogunseye explained the functions of Akogun according to findings and history.

He said, “Akogun in any society has a prominent role to play in terms of security and crisis resolution. There’s no town, land, family, or community that doesn’t have one issue or the other.

“When such an issue arises, I think the first person to be called upon to determine how it will be resolved amicably is Akogun of the community.”

On Olu’s of Agboyi’s reign so far, he says, “Just a few years on the throne, he has facilitated so many developmental projects and programs for this Agboyi community. Since Agboyi has been in existence, we don’t have drinkable water.”

“Although Agboyi is surrounded by the river or ocean, whatever you call it, we don’t have drinkable water; we have to travel long distances before we could get drinkable water.

“But within a year on the throne, he met with the Council’s chairman, Mayor Dele Osinowo, to the extent that the water we are enjoying in Agboyi today is clean and hygienic.”

He also approached the House of Representatives member representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye, who constructed an ICT center for the community.

He also used his influence to facilitate a standard ongoing community town hall through the federal government and a 30-bed maternity center.

He further appealed to all arms of government to give the community the long-overdue motorable bridge.

“The major priority of our needs today is a motorable link bridge; without that bridge, it is like we are outside Lagos and not part of the state. We have that belief. As soon as we have the link, Bridge Agboyi will become another lekki. So, that is our passionate appeal to every arm of the government to come to our aid and give us that bridge,” High Chief Ogunseye Ebenezer, the Akogun of Agboyi, made the plea.
