Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the accusations of anti-party activities among the members of the All Progressives Congress in recent weeks have taken on an alarming dimension that may affect the party candidates across Kosofe.

Ikosi Isheri Lcda Council’s Chairperson, Mrs. Samiat Bada, expressly led accusations against a member of the House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye, for allegedly hobnobbing with SDP candidates.

However, her outburst attracted massive attacks from the supporters of the lawmaker, who accused her of using the council funds to bankroll her husband, a People’s Democratic Party stalwart in Ogun, against APC candidates.

The lawmaker’s supporters didn’t stop there; they went further to protest her interstate anti-party activities before the Lagos State government, the Lagos State House of Assembly, and the APC State Secretariat, and even submitted a petition with attached flash drive evidence.

While the dust raised in Kosofe Constituency 2 has yet to settle, Kosofe Constituency 1 members of the APC also joined in the trade of words over the anti-party activities of prominent APC leaders and members.

The supporters of the lawmaker representing Kosofe constituency 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Babatunde, have accused several APC members of secretly working for the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Lanre Carew, without resigning their party membership.

Kosofe cabinet members, members of the legislative arm, APC state, LGA, and ward executives, the former party LGA chairman, and party members and leaders are accused of working for SDP at the detriment of APC candidates.

According to Kosofe Post findings, SDP targets the two state constituency seats while drumming up support for APC presidential candidate Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Lagos East senatorial candidate Adetokubo Abiru, and Babajide Sanwoolu as governor of Lagos State, respectively.

However, Kosofe APC candidate for Kosofe Constituency, Okanlawon, has told many supporters of the party not to be deceived by the antics of the SPD, which he described as using bread to vacuum their stew.

Beyond the crisis hitting the Kosofe Chapter of the party, at least 40% out of over 800, 000 registered voters will determine the faith of the SDP, NNPP, Labour Party, PDP, and APC in the next year’s general election.

Particularly Kosofe Constituencies 1 and 2 of the Lagos State House of Assembly and Kosofe Federal Constituency seats, among others.
He also noted that using the voters’ fingerprints has made it difficult for electoral malpractices and multiple thumbprinting, among others, for any political parties to temper any electoral processes.

Following the impact of BVAS, the clever politicians ahead of the general election have now resorted to getting potential voters’ Permanent Voters Card details by giving them an undisclosed amount of money and canvassing them until the day of the poll in order to prevent open vote buying and beat the Economic and Financial Crime Commission’s eagle eyes.
