Ikeja Electric: Electrocution loom as low tension cable touches moving vehicles in Kosofe

By Bilesanmi Abayomi

Electrocution loomed at the Silvia Crescent area of Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos as an Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IKEDC) low-tension cable touched moving vehicles.

On Wednesday, January 3, around 1:00 p.m., vehicles moving in and out of house 126C Silvia Crescent had contact with an electric company cable as a result of a tilted pole that was not properly tensioned.

According to a witness, Arowolo Ololade, “This is a deadly mission. The cable is not properly tensioned by Ikeja Electric. Maybe as a result of a tilted pole and the low tension involved. This is not good for the community. People could get electrocuted at any time.

He urged IKEDC to fix the tilted pole to prevent the looming electrocution.

He said, “Ikeja Electric is to come around and do the needed replacement of the pole. Since it is a service to the community and to their customers, I advise them to come around and see things for themselves.

As of press time, the heads of the Shomolu Business Unit and Corporate Communication Department of Ikeja Electric could not be reached.
