VehicleGate: kosofe’s SSA saves, lawmaker promised community new patrol vehicle
Kosofe Local Government Special Adviser on Community Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Segun was saved from further prosecutions as the lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency, Hon. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawo has promised to replace the illegally sold Oworonshoki community security patrol vehicle.
The security patrol vehicle was donated to the Joint Community Development Associations during the administration of Barrister Ademuyiwa Adedeji to strengthen the operations of community security.
According to the Kosofe Post’s findings, after the later abandoned property was agreed to be disposed of, Babatunde and a few others claimed they sold it for the ridiculous amount of N150,000 to a scrap dealer at Owode Onion. Meanwhile, a vehicle that was not in as good of condition as the contentious community patrol vehicle was put up for sale at the same buyer’s shop for N2.4 million.
Over two months, the vehicle was sold without following the due process of selling government property through boarding; the amount of the vehicle is yet to be remitted to Oworonshoki joint CDA cover.
These led to a petition written by concerned community stakeholders against him and his subsequent appearance before Zone Two (2) Police Zonal Command, Onikan, on January 9 for allegedly selling an Oworoshoki community vehicle.
Babatunde, who doubles as Kosofe Community Development Committee Chairman, was accompanied by Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon, who temporarily saved him as a surety pending the time the lawmaker will replace the vehicle as assured during the accused’s interrogation.
The Kosofe Post previously reported that he was earlier investigated for allegedly selling a controversial transformer donated by the Kosofe Local Government to the Oko Cole community in Oworonshoki, and his surety is yet to replace the affected community transformer.
