Former Deputy State Chairman of Lagos PDP Denies Rumors
Amidst rumors and speculations that
the former Deputy State Chairman of the Lagos People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Welly Hassan had defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the man himself has come forward to deny the claims.
When contacted by a correspondent from The Kosofe Post (KP), Hassan stated that the reports were just rumors for now and that he would make an official announcement in due course.
“I don’t want to rush about it, please be patient as I will invite the media when the time comes,” he said.
Despite Hassan’s denial, sources close to his political camp have confirmed that he did leave the PDP a few days before the general election, and that his close friend, Senator Rahman Olalekan Mustapha, may have been involved in the decision.
Hassan is the husband of Sherifat Olushola Hassan, a two-time PDP candidate for Kosofe Federal Constituency. If the rumors of his defection to the APC turn out to be true, it could be a significant blow to the PDP’s efforts to gain a foothold in Lagos State politics.
However, Hassan has denied the reports and has urged the media to be patient while he makes his official announcement.
