The Oba of Oworonshoki in Lagos, Oba Saliu Babatunde , has described the 2023 election as one of the peaceful and credible ones in the state. Despite the challenges that the people faced, such as fuel scarcity and the naira swap, the election was successful, peaceful, and smooth.
Speaking about the low turnout of voters, the Oba said that many people were hungry and couldn’t access the money in their bank accounts, which affected the turnout. However, he thanked God that there were no reports of people being beaten, molested, or deprived of voting, and the results were properly announced.
The Oba expressed his confidence in the new president-elect, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, saying that he had transformed Lagos and created jobs and amenities. He believed that Tinubu would do even better now that he was the president-elect, and there would be more employment for the youths and more investment in Nigeria.
Furthermore, the Oba advised the people of Oworonshoki and Kosofe to have confidence in the security operatives and go out to vote. He emphasized the importance of having an experienced leader to run Lagos and ensure that people can cohabitate peacefully without any trouble.
