Dr Yusuf Abdulwahab, a representative of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, has accused the Labour Party of using fake ID cards at polling units across Kosofe. The accusation was made during the governorship and house of assembly election on Saturday.

Dr Yusuf, while speaking with the Kosofe Post, accused the Labour Party agents at polling unit 041 in Ogudu GRA of using fake ID cards. He said that beyond the one agent allowed at the polling unit, he was surprised to see many people who posed as Labour Party agents.

He went on to say that he seized a fake ID card from one of the supposed agents and claimed that there were five fake agents with Labour Party tags in total. Dr Yusuf claimed that the fake agents were attempting to rig the election and accused the Labour Party of foul play.

Several voters at the affected polling unit collaborated Yusuf’s claims, but the situation was prevented from escalating into a fracas by the timely intervention of security agents.

The BVAS machine reportedly worked perfectly and INEC arrived according to the stipulated time. However, the accusation of fake ID cards being used by the Labour Party casts doubt on the credibility of the election in Kosofe. It remains to be seen what action, if any, will be taken by the authorities in response to these allegations.
