The erstwhile Executive Secretary of Kosofe Local Government, Mr. Gbemisola Ketiku, has praised the people of Kosofe and Lagos in general for voting for the candidates of their choice in the just concluded 2023 elections.
Ketiku made this known in a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday.
He said it did not matter whether the electorate were Yoruba, Hausa, or Igbo, young or old, as they had made their votes count and they had chosen right.
The former executive secretary thanked the people of Lagos and Kosofe who participated in the gubernatorial and national assembly elections.
“Regardless of your choice of candidate or political party, you made your voice heard and made a difference. This is what democracy is all about. We all battled fiercely because we love this state deeply and care strongly about its future. To the best campaign team and volunteers, we say big thank you to you all. No matter what you do or where we go from here, you will carry the memory of the history we made together,” he said.
Ketiku says he is grateful for everything that the electorate has done and for all the incredible work that they have put in to make history.
According to him, democracy in a state like Lagos may be noisy, messy, and complicated, yet we all have our own opinions.
He said when they go through tough times or make big decisions as a state or as people, it necessarily stirs passions and controversy, which won’t change after elections.
Ketitu said these arguments they had were a mark of their liberty; however, despite all their differences, most of them share certain hopes for Lagos’s future.
The former executive secretary said he believed they could build on the progress they had made and continue to fight for new jobs, new opportunities, and new security for every class.
Ketiku said he believed they could keep the promise of their founding fathers.
He said, “I believe we can seize this future together because we are not as divided as our politics suggest. We’re not as cynical as the pundits believe. We are greater than the sum of our individual ambitions, and we remain more than a collection, and forever we will be the united Lagos (Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo).”
The former executive secretary, therefore, said that together, with their help and God’s grace, they would continue their journey forward.
