At the 13th Annual Ramadan Lecture and Child Dedication service organized by the Abdulwahid Islamic Foundation, a group of clerics emphasized the importance of the girl child’s upbringing, particularly during the formative stage of their life, for a better and saner society.
The event, which was held at Tabjol Event Centre in Agboyi Ketu LCDA, Lagos on March 25th, 2023, had the theme “The Girl Child”. The Guest Speaker, As-Sheikh Abdul-Rafii Babatunde Muh’d Awwal, highlighted the significance of caring for the girl child, which he said has special features divinely structured to bring about a sane world.
Sheikh Babatunde Muh’d Awwal further noted that the success of most men, whether successful or unsuccessful, was due to the support of their wives. He charged the faithful who attended the program never to neglect the girl child, as they are the divine pivot of care in the world.
The Missioner and Chief Imam of Abdulwahid Islamic Foundation, Ustaz Ridwanulahi Abdullahi, reiterated the yearly routine of the faith-based group, stating that the future of any society hinges on how well children, especially the girl child, are groomed. He also emphasized the importance of training the girl child, which he said is an institute on her own.
The founder of Abdulwahid Islamic Foundation, Hon. Abdulwaheed Odunuga, spoke about the essence of the program, which was to advocate for proper training of the girl child in every homestead in the nation. He noted that the training of children, especially the girl child, is crucial for a better and saner society.
In attendance was Hon. Samuel Olanrewaju Adebayo, a Christian and friend of the foundation’s founder. He noted that the event’s goal of ensuring peace in society through spiritual and healthy conversations around topical issues was why he attended the program annually.
