Councilor Adedeji Osinowo representing Ward C area of Ikosi Isheri LCDA in Kosofe has raised an alarm over the non-replacement of his burnt pre-paid meter three months after payment. In an SOS message sent to the media on Thursday morning, the councilor pleaded for help in getting his meter replaced.

Osinowo revealed that he made payment for the replacement of his burnt pre-paid meter since November of last year and until April of this year, he is yet to receive a replacement. He expressed his frustration with the situation, saying, “I paid for a 3-phase meter, and these people want me to die over an estimated bill. Someone wants to sniff life out of me. Save my soul.”

The councilor’s plea for help comes amidst growing concerns about estimated billing in the country. Nigerians have been clamoring for an end to estimated billing, which has left many paying exorbitant fees for electricity they did not consume.

Efforts to reach Mr. Akinola Ayeni, Community and Media Relations Manager of Ikeja Electric, for comments on the issue have been unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report. It is unclear why the replacement of the pre-paid meter has been delayed for so long, but Osinowo’s plea for help highlights the need for more transparency in the process of meter replacement and billing in the country.

Residents of Ikosi Isheri LCDA have expressed their support for Osinowo’s plea, calling on the relevant authorities to intervene and ensure that he gets his meter replaced without further delay. The delay in the replacement of Osinowo’s meter is a matter of concern, and the authorities must act quickly to address the situation to avoid further complaints and agitations from the public.
