Residents of Agboyi Ketu in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State have appealed to the Lagos State Government to urgently attend to the abandoned Demurin road construction project.

According to reports, the road construction project which commenced in 2020 was expected to be completed between 9 to 14 months, however, the road has remained in a deplorable state since the project began.

A property manager, Mr. Tolulope Olamipo, took to Twitter to decry the condition of the road and called on the state government for urgent attention. He stated that the entire stretch of the road from Ketu to Alapere is now in a mess and urged Governor Babajide Sanwoolu to revisit the road construction.

A representative of Retro Construction Company, the company handling the project, confirmed that the project could not be delivered by the first quarter of 2023, citing a lack of funds from the state government as the reason for the delay. The representative, however, assured residents that the project will be completed once the needed funds are released.

Residents of the area expressed their disappointment with the state government’s handling of the project and appealed to Governor Sanwoolu to intervene and ensure the project is completed as soon as possible. They noted that the deplorable state of the road is causing traffic congestion and accidents in the area, and also affecting the socio-economic activities of the community.

As of the time of this report, the Lagos State Government is yet to release a statement on the matter.
