Honourable Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Prof. Akin Abayomi, recently emphasized the importance of digital journalism through technology in Kosofe.
In a public event held to commission the newly facilitated 80-bed Public Health Care Centre, which was made possible by the efforts of Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye, the Lawmaker representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Prof. Akin Abayomi, representing Lagos State Governor, made significant remarks on the value of digital journalism.
During his speech, the commissioner commended the Lawmaker for his impactful stewardship and noted that prior to the event, he had taken the initiative to research the accomplishments of Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye. Prof. Abayomi revealed that he had used digital tools, specifically the search engine Google, to gather information about the lawmaker’s outstanding contributions to lawmaking, constituency development, and various projects and programs.
The commissioner’s remarks underscored the importance of digital journalism, which enables easy access to information about public office holders with just a few taps on a screen. It allows for connectivity and discussions at levels that traditional print media cannot provide on its own. Prof. Abayomi emphasized that public office holders at the grassroots level should embrace digital journalism as a feedback tool to bridge communication gaps and facilitate closer interaction with the public they serve.
The event showcased the growing recognition of the power of digital platforms in disseminating information, fostering transparency, and promoting effective governance. The emphasis on digital journalism aligns with the broader objective of utilizing technology to enhance communication and public service delivery in Kosofe and beyond.
