The Baytul-Maal Zero Interest Cooperative, located in the heart of Kosofe, recently celebrated its second anniversary with an event focused on the prospects and challenges of raising economic standards through cooperative efforts. The cooperative, renowned for providing free skills acquisition, zero-interest loans, and support for joint ventures, has reiterated its commitment to eradicating poverty and empowering Nigerian youth.
Mr. Taiwo Lasisi Yusuf, the President of Baytul Maal Cooperative Society, expressed his dedication to lending support to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Nigeria. He emphasized the urgent need to eliminate poverty and create opportunities for young Nigerians through free skills training programs. Mr. Yusuf stated, “We aim to celebrate the second anniversary of our cooperative society while raising awareness about the services we provide and giving back to our community through free healthcare services.”
The event witnessed a notable milestone, as more than 100 individuals received free medical services provided by the Baytul Maal zero-interest cooperative society as part of their anniversary celebration.
When asked about what sets the cooperative apart from others, Mr. Yusuf highlighted its uniqueness in providing interest-free loans. He explained, “What sets us apart is our commitment to lending money without any additional interest. Furthermore, we engage in various business ventures, including estate management and joint ventures, which enable our members to generate profits within the organization.”
Encouraging members to take advantage of the cooperative’s free skills training, Mr. Yusuf urged, “Make good use of the advice and skills offered by the organization. Invite others to join the cooperative and benefit from the services we provide.”
Mrs. Latifat Esther Saka, the matron of the cooperative, congratulated the group on their second anniversary. She praised the cooperative’s various skills acquisition initiatives, but expressed concern over the attitude of young Nigerians towards manual labor. Mrs. Saka urged parents, especially mothers, to encourage their children to learn various trades from a young age and provide incentives to nurture their passion for these vocations.
Describing the cooperative as reliable and forward-thinking, Mrs. Saka affirmed its potential for future investments. She stated, “This cooperative offers a bright future for our children, men, and women, not to mention opportunities in the realm of landed property. They are truly remarkable.”
Mrs. Saka encouraged members to continue to bring new individuals into the cooperative, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and dedication. She concluded by expressing her gratitude for the solid foundation laid by the cooperative and their exemplary achievements on their anniversary.
The event concluded with recognition and awards presented to outstanding members, followed by the cutting of the anniversary cake. Baytul Maal Cooperative Society members, special guests, and aged women commended the founder and offered prayers for the continuous prosperity of the organization.
