The Lagos Debate Competition, organized by LGNA International in collaboration with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and supported by the Ireland Ambassador to Nigeria, has reached its exciting semi-final stage. The recent event witnessed intense battles of words as teams from various Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) vied for the coveted top positions.
In a remarkable display of wit and eloquence, Agege and Kosofe LGEAs emerged as the frontrunners, securing first and second positions, respectively, during the gripping semi-final rounds. The competition, focused on the theme of “This House Believes That Nigeria Security System Is Porous,” pushed participants to showcase their research, analytical skills, and public speaking abilities.
Agege and Kosofe will now face off in a thrilling debate contest, where they will passionately argue their perspectives on the chosen topic, “Irish Culture and Traditions Are Good Enough for Nigerians to Imitate”. The clash promises to be a battle of ideas, with both teams striving to clinch the top positions and claim victory in this prestigious competition.
The Lagos Debate Competition sets itself apart from others by not only offering substantial cash prizes and material rewards to the overall winner but also providing a unique opportunity. The triumphant team will be granted an enriching experience—a five-day visit to Dublin, Ireland—during the second batch of the LGNA study tour scheduled for August. This invaluable international exposure promises to broaden their horizons and foster cultural exchange.
