The Oworonshoki community in Lagos State has been plagued by a spate of robberies and shop burglaries over the past three months. However, a breakthrough came on the 5th of July, 2023, as the local security outfit, MADANWO, successfully apprehended three suspects in the act of breaking into shops around Carwash, Oworonshoki.
The suspects, identified as Kamoru Ogunjobi, Omo Ejo Berger (nickname), and K-Singer (Nickname), are all residents of Oworonshoki and have been previously involved in criminal activities within the area. According to gathered information, Kamoru Ogunjobi, who has a history of robbery, has been arrested four times in the past two years but has consistently managed to secure bail. In a daring escape attempt during his last arrest, Ogunjobi eluded authorities by jumping into the lagoon and swimming away from his hideout on Oke-Eri Street.
Omo-Ejo, the son of a well-known Oworonshoki resident, has been reported to the police multiple times by his father for robbery, yet he persisted in his criminal activities undeterred.
The breakthrough in the case came as the suspects confessed to their involvement in a number of recent robberies and shop burglaries in Oworonshoki. They revealed that they utilized rooftops as a means of entry and exit, allowing them to evade detection. Furthermore, the suspects disclosed that they had accomplices who aided them in selling the stolen items.
Among the incidents they admitted to perpetrating were the robbery of residents at 99, Oworo Road on the 15th of June, 2023, the burglary of two shops along Olabode Aluko Street on the 23rd of June, 2023, the burglary of a house and shop on Awanatu Street on the 29th of June, 2023, and the burglary of three shops along Olorunfunmi Street on the 4th of July, 2023, among others.
Following their apprehension, the suspects were promptly handed over to the Alonge Divisional Police Station for arraignment and subsequent prosecution. The Oworonshoki community has expressed relief and gratitude to the MADANWO security outfit for their relentless efforts in bringing these criminals to justice.
