In the wake of the ongoing massive demolition in Mofesajo Community, Oworonshoki, residents who fell victim to the demolition have made a heartfelt appeal to NGOs for assistance. The Lagos State taskforce recently began the demolition of shanties and makeshift buildings along the Oworonshoki Coastal area as part of the Kosofe Model City Plan 2020 -2040.

Despite prior warnings from the Chairman of the agency, CSP Shola Jejeloye, to remove illegal structures and vacate the area, some residents couldn’t comply, leading to the demolition of their homes. In response to the distressing situation, the affected community organized a peaceful protest, seeking support for shelter, food, and education for their children.

Comrade Olanrewaju Olusegun, a resident of Masafejo and coordinator of the demonstration, shared a video expressing their plight. He alleged that the Lagos Taskforce demolished their homes without offering alternatives, and anyone daring to question their actions was subjected to violence.
