Egbin Power Plc Spotlights Business Sustainability Through New E-zine Release

Egbin Power Plc, Nigeria’s largest power generation company, has underscored the paramount importance of embedding sustainability into business strategies, with a notable emphasis on clear action plans.

The company’s commitment to this approach was highlighted during the launch of the second edition of “Gree’n’lectric,” an e-zine dedicated to promoting clean energy and environmental responsibility within the continent’s power sector.

Egbin Power Plc’s leadership believes that the integration of sustainability initiatives into business models is a critical driver of value creation for organizations. The e-zine, Gree’n’lectric, serves as a platform to capture decisive actions and collaborative efforts taken by global leaders, governments, and organizations, including Egbin Power Plc, in aligning with sustainability agendas.

CEO of Egbin Power, Mokhtar Bounour, expressed the significance of the e-zine, stating, “Gree’n’lectric e-zine serves as a reference point for us to continuously stimulate sustainable initiatives in our operations, as the Sahara family of organizations is forward-thinking and in line with the global sustainability agenda.” Bounour emphasized the company’s commitment to a well-defined sustainability roadmap, coupled with proactive action plans, to minimize the environmental impact of their activities.

Bounour stated, “At Egbin, we think globally and act locally. Our commitment to environmental stewardship is unwavering, recognizing the interconnectedness of every action we take, whether as individuals or as an organization, to the ecosystem.” He emphasized that Egbin Power Plc is dedicated to providing electricity for socio-economic development while preserving the environment for future generations.

Ejiro Gray, Director of Governance and Sustainability at Sahara Group, lauded the Gree’n’lectric e-zine as a testament to the organization’s ongoing dedication to green initiatives. The e-zine showcases Egbin Power’s collaboration with the Nigerian Conservation Fund (NCF) in a nature conservation project covering 10 hectares. This endeavor aims to bolster carbon absorption and ecological equilibrium.

Gray also highlighted the e-zine’s comprehensive insights into recent sustainability projects across Sahara Group’s entities, technological advancements, and collaborative efforts with stakeholders. These efforts collectively contribute to a positive and lasting environmental impact.
