The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has officially appointed Mrs. Adesola Ibironke Kosoko as the new General Manager of Lagos State Television (LTV) in a move aimed at fortifying the leadership.
The confirmation was announced on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, through the Head of Service, Lagos State, Hakeem Muri – Okunola.
Mrs. Kosoko’s journey to this significant role has been marked by a rich and diverse broadcasting career spanning over 25 years.
She is no stranger to the LTV, having previously held the position of acting GM/Director, Director of Content Control and Operations. Her elevation to the substantive General Manager post is a testament to her dedication and exceptional contributions to the broadcasting industry.
Kosoko’s broadcasting journey began in the late 1990s when she became an On-Air Presenter (OAP) for Radio Lagos/Eko FM. Her remarkable talent and presence led to her selection as the face of Lagos State Television during the tenure of Mr. Jimi Odumosu as the General Manager. She revitalized the station’s image and hosted its flagship program ‘AM Saturday Live’, which earned the admiration of viewers.
Educationally, Kosoko holds a Master’s Degree in Public and International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English (Linguistics) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, attained in 1998.
Over the years, Kosoko has held key positions within the broadcasting industry, such as Presenter/Newscaster at Radio Lagos Eko FM from 1992 to 2001. She also served as Team Lead for Main News and Edition 12 at LTV from 2002 to 2010. Her journey within LTV continued with roles including Head of Corporate Affairs, Team Lead of Content Control and Operation, and Head of Current Affairs.
Her distinguished career has been adorned with several accolades and awards, including the Best TV Presenter Award by Awoseyin in 2004, Platinum Records Honorary Award in 2005, Friends of COWLSO Award in 2009, Agency for Mass Education Appreciation Award in 2021, and the Oyin Concept Role Model Award for Outstanding Presenter of the Year in 2023. Furthermore, she was honored with the Dbard Creative Media Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2023.
Mrs. Adesola Kosoko’s appointment as the General Manager of Lagos State Television signals a new chapter for the prominent broadcasting platform. With her extensive experience, remarkable accomplishments, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence, she is poised to steer LTV towards greater heights, ensuring its continued impact as a vital communication channel for the people of Lagos State.
