The executive chairman of Ikosi Isheri LCDA, Mayoress Samiat Abolanle Bada, orchestrated the distribution of approximately 6000 food packs to the less privileged, vulnerable, and elderly residents within the area.

The distribution tour encompassed all the political wards of the council, spanning across Ward A Isheri/Olowora, Ward B Shangisha-Magodo phase 1, Ward C Ikosi-Oke, and Ward D Orile Ikosi.

During her keynote address, Mayoress Samiat Bada reaffirmed her unwavering commitment to aiding those in dire need. She expressed, “I have always had a passion for giving back to the community, and it aligns with my religious beliefs. When you give, you are giving unto God. As we have been blessed with the privilege of holding this position, it is an extension of our plans.”

She clarified that this benevolent initiative was not solely prompted by the recent removal of subsidies but has been a continuous effort long before that. She emphasized that assistance was provided during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic and will persist in supporting the masses, as these funds belong to the Government, not to her personally.

The food items distributed included Rice, Beans, and Garri, among others. Mayoress Samiat Bada disclosed that her administration remains committed to providing welfare packages for the indigent, unveiling a comprehensive strategy for efficient distribution across various points within the area. She underscored the importance of alleviating poverty and bringing smiles to the faces of residents.

Transportation expenses for the underprivileged will also be considered to facilitate mobility within the community, according to her announcement.

She called on everyone to extend their necessary support to her administration, stressing that the dividends of democracy will continue to reach all segments of the community.

Among the distinguished guests at the event was Gbenga Omotosho, a Commissioner designate in Lagos State. He lauded the chairman’s efforts, recognizing that the palliatives will alleviate the challenges brought about by the fuel subsidy removal. He urged other well-meaning Nigerians to participate in initiatives of this nature.

The beneficiaries expressed immeasurable joy and gratitude towards the council leadership for their compassionate gesture. As they chanted praises for the council boss, Mayoress Samiat Bada closely monitored the distribution process to ensure equitable allocation to all recipients.
