The Lagos State Chapter of the Labour Party has recently inaugurated chairmen for all 20 Local Government areas in a move towards the upcoming 2025 Local Poll in Lagos State. This significant development was revealed in an exclusive interview with Olubunmi Odesanya, the LP State Publicity Secretary, immediately after her appearance on the Tungba FM program last Saturday.
Highlighting the party’s dedication to grassroots empowerment, Odesanya emphasized the establishment of strong and reliable structures at the local level. She recounted the recent inauguration, which took place just two Sundays ago, underscoring the party’s deliberate efforts to build a solid foundation from the grassroots upwards. “We’re intentionally building up on the grassroots,” Odesanya explained, highlighting the party’s methodical approach to progressing towards the next poll.
Odesanya elaborated, “One thing leading to another, one thing moving up to the next. So, therefore, we have now inaugurated our chairmen, all over Lagos, and it’s going to go further down to the ward level. So once we’re set with that, we will put our processes for the local government’s Chairmanship and councillorship election.”
While expressing the party’s optimism about the path ahead, Odesanya stressed the importance of adhering to established guidelines and rules. The Labour Party aims to uphold transparency and integrity in its operations as it moves forward in preparation for the upcoming local elections.
Further highlighting the party’s commitment to growth and inclusivity, Odesanya noted that the Labour Party Lagos State launched a seamless online membership drive in May. Odesanya extended an invitation for citizens to join the Labour Party’s vision for a prosperous nation. “Lagos, this is our Lagos. Please, we love you and we say to you, come on. There’s room for us all here. Labour Party is a forward-looking party. Our motto says Labour Party forward ever. Let’s do this together. Let’s have a new Nigeria,” she concluded, rallying Lagosians to unite for positive change.
