Hon. Bashir Saheed, fondly known as ‘Elewedu,’ the Councillor representing Ward ‘D’ and Majority Leader of Agboyi-Ketu Legislative Council, continues to inspire educational excellence through his unwavering commitment to grassroots initiatives.
Since taking office in 2021, this grassroots legislator has consistently initiated programs to encourage academic achievement among young learners. One of his recent endeavors was the distribution of sanitation materials to all four public primary schools in his ward, demonstrating his dedication to improving educational facilities.
In addition to this, he organized a thrilling kids’ football cup tournament, inviting participation from all public primary schools in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. The event culminated with Anglican Primary School, Ajegunle, emerging as the victors.
As the new 2023/2024 school session begins, Hon. Elewedu has launched another impactful program. He distributed school bags and notebooks to eager students, with plans to provide school uniforms for indigent pupils.
Explaining the motivation behind these initiatives, Hon. Elewedu emphasized that they aim to reward academic excellence and alleviate the challenges faced by underprivileged students.
Regarding the school uniform distribution, Elewedu highlighted its importance in boosting students’ confidence and comfort in their studies. He believes that students who come to school well-dressed and tidy are better positioned to succeed academically.
Hon. Elewedu assured the community that the distribution of school uniforms will take place on Monday, 18th September 2023. To identify beneficiaries, he personally visited all four public primary schools in his ward, namely Ajelogo Primary School, Baptist Primary School, Orisigun Primary School, and Apostolic Primary School.
His dedication to promoting educational excellence and improving the lives of students in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA continues to be a source of inspiration for the community, proving that encouragement and support can indeed be stepping stones to greatness.
