The Joint Action for Good Governance (JAGG) has made a formal request for the prompt deployment of the transformer entrusted to the Olu of Agboyi, Oba Monsuru Ladega, to serve the residents of the Agboyi community. This appeal was conveyed through a letter issued by Abdulwaheed Odunuga, the National Vice President, and Adekunle Aderibigbe, the General Secretary, in Lagos on Thursday.
In their letter, JAGG emphasized that the swift release of the transformer would alleviate the hardship endured by the community due to prolonged electricity shortages. The deployment of the transformer is seen as crucial for fostering growth and development in the Agboyi region.
The absence of a functioning transformer in the community not only impedes progress but also places residents at a significant disadvantage. JAGG underscored the importance of addressing this issue to improve the well-being and development of the Agboyi community.
The letter explained that in 2019, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA in Lagos State, displayed a commendable commitment to enhancing living conditions by providing transformers to traditional rulers. One of these transformers was designated to benefit the residents of Agboyi and entrusted to the Olu of Agboyi, Oba Monsuru Ladega.
Regrettably, despite the passage of time since this noble gesture, the transformer purchased with taxpayers’ funds has not been put into use within the Agboyi community. This situation has resulted in continuous power deprivation, where residents suffer frequent power outages and irregular electricity supply, creating difficulties for households, businesses, education, and healthcare access.
JAGG stressed the need for the equitable distribution of resources within the Agboyi-Ketu LCDA. They believe that ensuring the fair allocation of essential infrastructure, such as electricity, is a fundamental principle that should guide the distribution of resources in the region.
Deploying this transformer would represent a step toward promoting equality and fairness in the provision of public services. The organization expressed gratitude in advance to the Olu of Agboyi for his support and hopes that the deployment of the transformer will positively impact the community’s access to reliable electricity.
