The Lagos State House of Assembly has pledged its unwavering support for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to advancing infrastructure and transport sector development in the state. This declaration was made by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa during the commissioning of the Oyingbo Bridge on a momentous Sunday.

Represented by Hon. Adewale Adedeji Temitope OON, the Chairman of the House Committee on Transport, Speaker Obasa expressed the legislature’s dedication to advancing the transport sector’s reform. He emphasized the significance of the Lagos State Transport Masterplan and the THEME+ agenda, which collectively underscore the government’s determination to enhance transportation in the state.

Speaker Obasa commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering commitment to fulfilling his electoral promises and meeting the expectations of the people of Lagos. He underscored the historical significance of the event, which marked the inauguration of a bus terminal and the commissioning of the Oyingbo Bridge.

“Your political scorecard has said it all. Your promises to the people as a politician and as the executive governor are coming to pass. As long as you continue to do what is right for the people, the Lagos House of Assembly will continue to stand with and by you,” Speaker Obasa affirmed.

In his address, Hon. Adewale Adedeji Temitope OON shared his initial concerns about the state’s transportation challenges when he assumed the role of Chairman of the Committee on Transport. He expressed that these concerns deepened when Governor Sanwo-Olu prioritized transportation in the THEME+ agenda.

“Mr. Governor, history will be kind to you. On behalf of the good people of Lagos State, I promise that Mr. Speaker will continue to stand by you for every need on infrastructure development and the transport sector,” Hon. Adewale assured.

He also took the opportunity to advocate for the construction of the Iju/Fagba Bridge in Ifako-Ijaiye to alleviate traffic congestion and support transportation in the region.

“Compensations have been paid, but we have not seen any bridge. Mr. Governor, I would like to talk to you about that,” Hon. Adewale conveyed.
