Royal Recognition: Agboyi Kingdom Honors British Red Cross with Chieftaincy Titles

The city of Agboyi in Agboyi Ketu LCDA witnessed a joyous spectacle on December 1st, 2023, as Oba ALAIYELUWA OBA (ENGR) MONSURU ABIMBOLA OLADEGA, the monarch of Agboyi kingdom, played host to volunteers and members of the British Red Cross at his regal palace.

The grand occasion unfolded with a warm welcome from the monarch, accompanied by singing, dancing, and an air of excitement. A pivotal part of the event was an interactive Zoom session, where representatives from other Red Cross societies globally shared insights into their activities, particularly in rural communities.

The day reached a pinnacle with the conferment of prestigious chieftaincy titles upon three distinguished representatives of the British Red Cross officials: Aare Taiyeshe, Yeye Amuludun, and Otunba Soludero.

Richard Blewitt, the Executive Director International of the British Red Cross, spoke to newsmen, emphasizing the commitment of the Red Cross to humanitarian principles. He highlighted the organization’s contributions to the Agboyi community during challenging times, including cash distributions during the Covid pandemic and floods, providing non-food items, and reinforcing community resilience in the face of climate emergencies.

Volunteer members shared their experiences, expressing their passion for the Red Cross and the profound humanitarian services it provides. They attested to joining the association due to their dedication to making a positive impact.

The monarch expressed gratitude for the Red Cross’s impact in his community, assuring that the gesture would be eternally remembered. The event concluded with a festive atmosphere as people indulged in merriment and camaraderie, celebrating the union of Agboyi Kingdom and the British Red Cross in a memorable event.
