In the early hours of Friday, an unidentified truck collided with the pedestrian bridge at Alapere Estate, creating havoc in the Ketu axis of Agboyi Ketu LCDA and Kosofe Local Government. Eyewitness Davoh Chucks Olami captured the aftermath in a midnight video shared on X handle, revealing the complete destruction of the Alapere pedestrian bridge by a long truck.
Chuck, who addressed Kosofe Post, urgently reported the incident, highlighting the standstill traffic and the diversion of all vehicular movement to Alapere inward. He pleaded for prompt intervention from the relevant authorities to address the situation.
Adebayo Taofeek, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, confirmed the incident, stating that a truck loaded with metal, exceeding height limits, became stuck under the bridge. The impact resulted in the collapse of the bridge, causing a serious gridlock in the Ketu-Alapere axis of Lagos State, heading inward Berger.
This unfortunate event comes just a few months after a previous incident reported by Kosofe Post, where the same pedestrian bridge was struck by another hit-and-run truck.
