Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, has extended the spirit of the season by distributing over 8,500 food packs to constituents in celebration of Christmas and New Year. The packs, filled with rice, beans, and garri, were thoughtfully distributed across the 16 Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas within the Senatorial District.
This compassionate initiative targeted vulnerable groups, encompassing widows, individuals with physical disabilities, unemployed youths, women, and the elderly. Trade associations, youth organizations, religious bodies, party members, leaders, and traditional rulers were also among the diverse beneficiaries. In a nod to inclusivity, online nominations were used to identify additional recipients, ensuring a broader reach and assisting more residents, particularly young people in need, during the festive season.
Expressing profound gratitude, beneficiaries from collection centres in Ikorodu, Kosofe, Somolu, Epe, and Ibeju-Lekki hailed Senator Abiru for his consistent support, especially during challenging times. They highlighted his remarkable achievements, including the facilitation of crucial projects such as hospitals, sports centres, markets, and the empowering SAIL Innovation Lab project.
Senator Abiru’s commitment to supporting party members, leaders, and constituents during festive periods was also recognized. This festive generosity follows his June 2023 launch of the quarterly Food Packs Programme, a responsive measure to alleviate economic challenges in grassroots communities post the removal of the petroleum subsidy.
