Hon. Fatoki Ayobode Kehinde, the Special Adviser on Environment for Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area and Chairman of the planning committee for the 2022 Ikosi Isheri Ketu Magodo Cultural Carnival, shed light on the reasons behind the cancellation of the 2023 edition.

Ayobode, on Saturday morning, emphasized the Mayoress Samiat Bada-led administration’s sensitivity to the public’s plight amidst economic challenges as the primary factor behind the decision.
“As a responsible and proactive government, we are very sensitive to the cry and yearnings of the people we serve. It’s a known fact that the world economy is somersaulting, and Nigeria is not left out. Hence, it would be insensitive of us as a government to embark on such projects for the year 2023,” Ayobode stated.
He clarified that, instead of organizing the cultural carnival, the administration is channeling its efforts and resources into other developmental projects with a direct impact on the community, such as road infrastructure and empowerment initiatives.
This explanation dispels any insinuations that the recent 50th birthday celebration of Council Chairman Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada influenced the decision to cancel the annual event.
The Ikosi Isheri Ketu Magodo Cultural Carnival, initiated by the Executive Chairman of the local government, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, garnered attention during the 2022 edition. Themed “OUR CULTURE, NOT OUR RELIGION,” the carnival celebrated the nation’s 62nd Independence Anniversary with a cultural parade featuring live performances from Fuji, Juju, and Hip-hop artists. Notable state government functionaries and political figures graced the event, making it a memorable celebration of culture and heritage.
