The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has announced the recovery of the body of 27-year-old Adeyemi Azeez, a resident of Community Avenue, Oshogun, Alapere Ketu, Kosofe LGA, who tragically fell into a drain collector canal on New Year’s Day.
Margaret Adeseye, Director of the state fire service, revealed in a statement on Thursday that the recovery followed two days of intensive search and rescue operations initiated promptly after a distress call received on January 3, 2024.
The statement reads, “The preliminary investigation indicates that Azeez accidentally fell into the drain collector canal leading to the lagoon on New Year’s Day.”
The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service extended sympathies to the family and friends of Azeez during this difficult time. The recovered body has been handed over to the Alapere Division police for further procedures.
