The supporters of the immediate past member of the House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency of Lagos, Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye, have opted to remain tight-lipped as the forthcoming Local Government Chairmanship race in Ikosi Isheri LCDA gains momentum.

In 2021, amidst minimal contention over the incumbent’s eligibility, five loyalists of the former Federal lawmaker vigorously vied for the Chairmanship position. These contenders, including Chief Loogun Judge Sunday, Adetunji Adebajo, Hon Dolapo Bashiru, Abideen Fasasi, and Hon Abiodun Aina Martins, initially pledged allegiance to Agunsoye’s camp before political realignments ensued.

The primary election witnessed a showdown between Chief Loogun, endorsed by Agunsoye’s supporters, and the incumbent Chairman, Princess Samiat Bada, who garnered backing from Kosofe 2 GAC leaders. However, the contest was marred by violence, leaving several party members injured.

Adding to the intrigue, the emergence of Hon Thomas Ogunleye, a prominent Agunsoye loyalist, as Princess Bada’s running mate without formal candidacy procedures suggests internal disarray within the lawmaker’s camp. Ogunleye’s swift switch in allegiance further underscores the fractures within Agunsoye’s political base.

While potential candidates from Agunsoye’s camp maintain a low profile, other contenders engage in extensive consultations. An insider hinted at more aspirants emerging soon, signaling potential shifts in the dynamics of the race.
