In a recent interview with the Kosofe Post, Prince Bidemi Akintunde-Stainless, a chairmanship aspirant for the Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area, addressed the current economic challenges facing Nigeria. Amidst a growing trend of attacks on warehouses and trailers carrying essential goods by young people, Akintunde-Stainless emphasized the importance of unity and patience in navigating these hardships.
“The economic crisis is not unique to Nigeria but a global issue,” Akintunde-Stainless stated, pointing out that countries worldwide, including the United Kingdom, are grappling with similar challenges. Expressing empathy for Nigerians facing economic hardships, he assured them that relief is on the horizon. However, he stressed that resorting to violence and looting is not the solution, as it only exacerbates the scarcity of resources and disrupts essential goods distribution.
Akintunde-Stainless expressed confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, and other federal and state officials. He called on Nigerians to trust in their ability to address economic challenges effectively.
While acknowledging food scarcity and high prices in some regions, Akintunde-Stainless highlighted the need for transparent communication from the government regarding steps taken to alleviate economic hardships. He emphasized the importance of building trust and unity between the government and the people through regular updates and engagement.
Akintunde-Stainless urged Nigerians to refrain from violent activities and instead focus on advocating for fair economic policies, supporting local businesses, and investing in skills training and education. He emphasized that by working together and trusting in leadership, Nigeria can overcome its economic challenges and strive towards a more prosperous future for all citizens.
