Hon. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, spearheaded the distribution of food palliatives to 41 mosques across the area in a show of solidarity with Muslim faithfuls observing the holy month of Ramadan. The distribution, facilitated by the Kosofe League of Imams and Alfas, aims to provide relief to residents, particularly the less fortunate, as they engage in fasting and prayer during Ramadan.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, holds great significance for Muslims worldwide, marked by fasting, prayer, reflection, and acts of charity. Observers abstain from food and drink from dawn to dusk, focusing on spiritual growth and self-discipline.
The palliative distribution underscores the chairman’s commitment to supporting the local Muslim community during this sacred period. Through collaboration with the League of Imams and Alfas, the initiative ensures the equitable distribution of essential food items to those in need across Kosofe Local Government Area.
The second phase of the palliative distribution is set to commence next week, further extending support to additional residents within the local government.
