Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, visited the home of Joshua’s grieving mother, a local fruit seller, following the devastating loss of her son in a tragic flood incident. The heartfelt visit aimed to offer condolences and immediate assistance to the bereaved family amidst their profound grief.
Joshua, a primary six pupil, tragically lost his life after being swept away by floodwaters in the Ikosi, Ketu area of Lagos State. Expressing her sorrow over the untimely demise of Joshua, Mayoress Princess Samiat Bada assured his mother that the entire local government shares in her pain and stands united in support during this difficult period.
“Joshua’s death is a profound loss to our community. No parent should have to endure the pain of losing a child, especially under such tragic circumstances,” stated Princess Samiat Bada during her visit.
To alleviate the immediate challenges faced by Joshua’s family, the Mayoress announced that the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA has secured a new apartment for his mother. This initiative aims to provide a safe and comfortable living environment away from flood-prone areas. In addition to housing support, the local government will extend further benefits to ensure her well-being, including financial assistance and access to necessary social services.
Addressing the broader issue of flooding in the community, Princess Samiat Bada emphasized the urgency of enhancing drainage systems and infrastructure to prevent future tragedies. “The safety of our residents is paramount. We will collaborate closely with relevant authorities to accelerate ongoing projects and implement new strategies to mitigate the risk of flooding,” she affirmed.
