Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially inaugurated the rehabilitation and expansion of key roads in the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under Kosofe Local Government. The upgraded roads—Demurin Road, Agidi Road, and Church Street—are expected to significantly ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity for motorists and traders in the area.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu, accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat and Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairman Mayor Dele Oshinowo, emphasized the importance of the project in enhancing mobility and economic activities.

“These roads serve as a crucial link for residents and businesses, connecting Ketu to other parts of the local government and providing a vital bypass for those heading to the Mile 12 International Commodities Market and Owode Onirin Auto Parts Market,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

The rehabilitation project included the dualisation of Demurin Road with a semi-rigid pavement, addressing chronic traffic congestion that has plagued the route for years. Agidi Road was expanded and reinforced to accommodate increasing traffic, while Church Street underwent extensive reconstruction to improve overall infrastructure in the area.

Sanwo-Olu described the project as a testament to his administration’s commitment to improving public infrastructure and intermodal transportation in Lagos.

“The completion of this project marks another milestone in our dedication to building a Lagos that works for all. Good roads do not only make life easier but also contribute to economic growth, food security, and the well-being of residents,” he added.

The governor commended residents for their patience during the construction period and applauded the contractor, Retro Construction Company Limited, for successfully delivering the project. He also urged the community to take ownership of the newly upgraded roads by preventing vandalism and avoiding indiscriminate waste disposal.

“This infrastructure belongs to you. To maintain its quality and usability, we must work together to keep it in good condition,” Sanwo-Olu said.

With the completion of these roadworks, commuters and businesses in Agboyi-Ketu can expect smoother transportation, reduced travel times, and improved access to major markets, reinforcing the government’s broader vision for a more connected and economically vibrant Lagos.
