The performance of Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, who represents Kosofe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has become a topic of heated public discourse, with community stakeholders expressing divergent views on her stewardship nearly two years into her term.

Omooba Awofeso Rasheed, a community leader, emphasized the need for evidence-based assessments, stating that “scorecards are the best yardsticks to measure the level of performance” when evaluating public officials.

However, criticism has come from more pointed quarters. In a strongly worded statement, Engr. Olusola Emmanuel Adedayo, Publisher and CEO of MoschinoBlog, dismissed recent praise for Ogbara by a group known as Concerned Constituents for Truth and Progress. He described their defence as “weak and empty,” accusing the group of being political loyalists benefiting from the lawmaker’s patronage.

Adedayo argued that Hon. Ogbara has underperformed in her 1 year and 10 months in office, alleging a lack of meaningful impact in Kosofe. “What she’s known for is sending birthday messages and attending lavish parties,” he said, stressing that representation should have visible results both at the federal and grassroots levels.

He drew comparisons to Ogbara’s predecessor, the former Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye (popularly known as R.O.T), whom he praised for “raising the bar on good public representation” during his eight-year tenure.

Adedayo concluded by urging the lawmaker to focus less on praise singers and more on substantive service to her constituents, raising singersime is ticking speedily” toward the 2027 general elections.

Despite the intensifying debate, there appears to be a noticeable absence of feedback from opposition parties, non-partisan civic groups, and ordinary residents. So far, public critiques of Ogbara’s record have largely come from members within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), raising questions about the broader political context of the criticisms. Community-based media and civil society groups are yet to release any independent evaluation of her performance in office.
