Saliu Adekunle has formally declared his intention to contest for the position of Councilor representing Ward A, Oworonshoki, under the All Progressives Congress (APC). The declaration, held at his campaign office in Oworonshoki, drew party leaders, supporters, journalists, and community stakeholders.
A youth leader and grassroots mobilizer, Adekunle used the occasion to unveil his campaign agenda tagged the YOU Agenda Team — a people-centered initiative that emphasizes inclusive development, community welfare, and responsive governance.
Adekunle, who holds a Master’s degree from the University of Lagos, also boasts professional certifications in leadership and governance from institutions including the London Business School and the Indian Business School. His political trajectory includes serving as Deputy Chief Whip of the Lagos State Youth Parliament, Secretary of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Kosofe branch, and Personal Secretary to the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA. Most recently, he chaired the electoral committee of the NYCN Lagos State Chapter.
Currently serving as Ward Secretary for APC Ward A in Kosofe Local Government, Adekunle has also been involved in notable initiatives such as the Unity Walk for Lagos East Senatorial campaigns and health outreach programs across the community.
Addressing attendees, Adekunle spoke passionately about his deep roots in Oworonshoki, stating that his upbringing in the community gave him a firsthand understanding of its challenges and opportunities.
“My passion for service and dedication to our community make me the ideal choice to represent us,” he said. “I was born, bred, and buttered in Oworonshoki. I understand the issues, and I am ready with solutions.”
He reiterated his commitment to delivering what he described as a new model of legislative service — one grounded in empathy, accountability, and tangible development. “We are promising a councilor like never before—one who will legislate with empathy, serve with passion, and deliver with integrity,” he added.
As campaign activities gear up ahead of the local government elections, Adekunle called on APC members, supporters, and residents to rally behind his candidacy. “Together, we rise. Together, we win,” he declared.
With a blend of academic prowess, leadership experience, and community engagement, Saliu Adekunle has emerged as a strong contender in the race for Councilor of Ward A, Kosofe. His declaration not only signals his political ambition but also a renewed drive for grassroots transformation in Oworonshoki.
