In a major political shift ahead of the 2025 local government elections, chairmanship aspirant Kayode Akanni Oguntunde has withdrawn from the race in Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), throwing his weight behind Hon. Ganiu Yomi Fatai, the current Secretary to the Local Government (SLG).
Oguntunde made the announcement on Friday through an official statement, expressing deep appreciation to his supporters and the people of Agboyi-Ketu for their encouragement throughout his political journey.
“I hereby drop my ambition in support of Hon. Ganiu Yomi Fatai as the next Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA,” Oguntunde declared. “I pledge to fully support his campaign, ensure the delivery of my ward, and collaborate with all six other wards to secure victory.”
Underscoring his commitment, Oguntunde publicly took an oath on the Holy Bible, invoking the name of Jesus Christ to affirm his pledge of loyalty to Hon. Fatai’s candidacy.
He concluded his statement with his campaign mantra: “In God we trust — YOGA Nii JOOOOR!! YOGA 2025!!!”

Political observers believe the development may shape the direction of the forthcoming contest in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA as party stakeholders continue to align behind leading candidates.
