Residents of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) turned out in large numbers on Wednesday for the Bash Peace Walk 2025, a campaign event organized by chairmanship aspirant Bashir Balogun to promote unity and his political vision for the community.

The walk, which traversed key areas within Agboyi-Ketu and its environs, was marked by energetic participation, chants of solidarity, and public endorsement of Balogun’s candidacy by both supporters and local stakeholders.

Balogun, who is widely regarded as a grassroots politician and “son of the soil,” has continued to gain momentum ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries. His supporters describe him as a humble and compassionate leader committed to inclusive governance.

Speaking at the event, his legal adviser, Ayo Odekunle, emphasized the need for merit-based leadership selection within the party. He described Balogun as the “right peg in the right hole,” stressing that the aspirant’s pedigree and track record make him a credible choice for the LCDA’s top seat.

“The people of Agboyi-Ketu deserve a leader who understands their needs and has a clear blueprint for development. Bashir Balogun fits that profile and more,” Odekunle said.

Residents echoed similar sentiments, many recalling Balogun’s family legacy of service to the community. They expressed optimism that his candidacy would bring about the kind of leadership that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and sustainable development.

In his remarks, Balogun thanked residents for their overwhelming show of support and promised to remain a voice for the people if elected.

“My campaign is rooted in a commitment to progress, unity, and a shared future for Agboyi-Ketu. I will continue to engage with the people and deliver on policies that reflect their aspirations,” he said.

Balogun’s campaign promises include community-driven initiatives, infrastructural upgrades, youth empowerment programmes, and an open-door governance style.

As the local government elections draw closer, the Bash Peace Walk has signalled strong grassroots backing for Balogun’s chairmanship ambition, setting the tone for a competitive race in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
