The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its primary elections to select chairmanship candidates ahead of the July 12 local government polls. The primaries, conducted across all 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), produced candidates for the upcoming elections.

While the exercise was largely peaceful with clear outcomes in several councils, including Adetola Adunni Abubakar’s emergence in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA and Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe’s victory in Kosofe Local Government, the result in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA has stirred notable silence.

Samiat Bada was declared winner of the APC chairmanship ticket in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, emerging from a field of 14 cleared aspirants. However, unlike in other councils where congratulatory messages have followed swiftly, none of the 13 other aspirants in Ikosi-Isheri have publicly acknowledged or congratulated Bada.

Rather than conceding, the campaign team of one of the aspirants, Oluwatoyin Wasiu Balogun, issued a statement shortly after the primary reiterating his commitment to his supporters and the community.

“Ikosi-Isheri, rejoice! Oluwatoyin Wasiu Balogun is here to drive meaningful change and lasting progress,” the statement read. “Together, we will improve education, enhance healthcare, and build stronger infrastructure for a better tomorrow. Rest assured, Oluwatoyin will not disappoint.”

The statement also extended appreciation to delegates and party members for their support, urging them to remain steadfast as the elections draw near.

The muted response from other aspirants has sparked speculation among political observers about possible disputes within the local chapter, raising questions about post-primary reconciliation efforts.

As party leaders work to rally support behind their candidates, attention now shifts to how the APC in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA will foster internal unity ahead of the decisive polls in July.
