Ganiu Oni, the serving councillor representing Ward B in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), is being considered for appointment as a Special Adviser to the council chairman, following his unsuccessful bid to secure a second-term councillorship ticket.

The development follows the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward primaries held on May 10, which were marred by parallel elections that produced two rival candidates. Although Oni reportedly polled 23 votes in Ward B, the party ultimately declared Ayo Sobanke as the official flagbearer.

Finally, Ganiu Oni Smile in Magodo-Shaginsha

A party source who spoke to KosofePost under the condition of anonymity confirmed that despite Oni’s majority vote in the ward, the party ticket was awarded to another aspirant, sparking internal party tensions.

In a move seen as an effort to manage the fallout and retain Oni’s loyalty, political stakeholders close to Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Chairman, Hon. Samiat Bada, have reportedly recommended him for a cabinet role.

If the appointment is confirmed, Oni would transition from his current position as a legislator to an executive role within the council, serving as a Special Adviser to the chairman—a position that would allow him to continue contributing to the administration’s governance agenda.
