Amid the lingering pains caused by the recent demolition in Oworonshoki, Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State, community leaders have stressed the need for unity, compassion, and urgent support for displaced residents.
In a statement, community leader Ketiku Gbemisola appealed to stakeholders to prioritize relief efforts and justice for victims rather than allowing political interests to dominate the conversation.
“While some may have political agendas, our priority should be ensuring justice and adequate relief for those impacted. We must not be swayed by opportunism but rather work through our government officials, led by Hon. Sanni Okanlawon, our Assembly representative, to advocate for the rights and dignity of our people in Oworonshoki,” Gbemisola said.
He emphasized the importance of solidarity, adding that only collective action rooted in empathy and compassion could bring meaningful change.
“We must stand together in prioritizing the welfare of the affected families above all else. Our response should be guided by justice, equity, and a commitment to the well-being of our community,” he added.
The call comes as residents continue to struggle with the aftermath of the midnight demolition, with growing appeals for humanitarian assistance across the community.
