Residents and stakeholders of Anthony Village in Kosofe Local Government Area have filed a petition against the community’s Baale, Chief Yusuf Ayoola Oseni Adams, accusing him of misconduct and activities deemed detrimental to the community.
The petition, dated November 17, 2025, was addressed to the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe.
In the document, the petitioners alleged that Chief Adams has engaged in “egregious actions and misconduct,” including extortion and fraudulent practices, which they say run contrary to his responsibilities as a traditional leader. They claim the alleged actions have negatively affected the welfare and development of Anthony Village.
The residents also raised concerns about the potential political implications, noting that the Baale’s alleged behaviour could tarnish the image of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the party he is associated with. According to them, unchecked misconduct could erode public trust, influence voting patterns, and provide opposition parties with grounds to criticise the APC in forthcoming elections.
Among the allegations listed in the petition is a claim of land grabbing, with Chief Adams accused of participating in the illegal sale and allocation of government land within the community.
The petitioners called on the Kosofe Local Government Chairman to investigate the allegations and take appropriate action to ensure accountability and restore confidence in the community’s leadership.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts by Kosofe Post to reach Chief Adams for comments were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to his phone went unanswered.
