A political stakeholder in Kosofe, Opomulero Olayiwola Sulyman, has declared that he will not contest for the Kosofe Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections despite what he described as mounting pressure from supporters and political associates across party lines.

In a statement released on Thursday, Sulyman said several loyalists and political actors had approached him to join the House of Representatives race under the platform of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), but he insisted that he has no intention of seeking elective office in 2027.

According to him, some political interests were allegedly attempting to draft him into the contest as part of a wider strategy aimed at splitting the youth vote and strengthening the chances of the incumbent lawmaker, Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, retaining the seat.

“I am not running for any elective post in 2027,” Sulyman stated.

He explained that while he appreciates the concerns and encouragement from long-time political allies who feel disconnected from the current political structure in Kosofe, he would not allow himself to become part of what he described as unhealthy political calculations.

Sulyman added that his primary interest remains supporting the emergence of credible and competent leadership for Kosofe rather than pursuing personal political ambition.

“As an interested stakeholder in the Kosofe project, it is important to see all political parties present their candidates before we forge a path for our supporters,” he said.

He stressed that his political group would eventually align with and support what he described as the “best candidate” capable of delivering honest, fair, and people-oriented representation to residents of the constituency.

The political stakeholder also pledged to actively participate in the campaign of any candidate his camp ultimately adopts ahead of the elections.

According to him, the broader objective is to ensure quality representation and strengthen democratic engagement within Kosofe Federal Constituency.

Sulyman concluded by urging all political parties to present credible candidates ahead of the 2027 elections, noting that the electorate deserves competent and accountable leadership.
