The Rotaract Club of Gbagada has conferred its Icon of Service Award on the Executive Vice Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Oluwole Sosanya, in recognition of his contributions to public service, community development and youth empowerment.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit to the vice chairman by a delegation led by the President of the Rotaract Club of Gbagada, Rtr. Moyosore Badejo, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the club and government institutions on sustainable community development initiatives.

Speaking during the presentation, Badejo said the award was in recognition of Sosanya’s leadership, accessibility and support for initiatives that have positively impacted residents of Kosofe and the Gbagada community.

According to the club, one of the major considerations for the recognition was the recent reconstruction of Ajayi Aina Road in Gbagada, a road that had reportedly remained in poor condition for more than 15 years.
The club commended the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, for approving and facilitating the reconstruction project, describing it as a significant intervention that has improved mobility and restored confidence among residents.
It also acknowledged Sosanya’s advocacy and engagement with community stakeholders, noting that his commitment to infrastructure development and residents’ welfare contributed to efforts that culminated in the road project.
During the visit, the Rotaract Club unveiled its programmes for the 2026/2027 Rotary Year under the theme, “Creating Lasting Impact,” and outlined proposed community projects, including a university outreach initiative. The club also sought collaboration with the Kosofe Local Government in implementing its programmes.
Receiving the award, Sosanya thanked the Rotaract Club of Gbagada for the honour and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives focused on education, youth development and sustainable community growth.
He pledged the council’s continued support for partnerships that promote social development and improve the quality of life of residents.
The Rotaract Club reiterated its commitment to working with government institutions, corporate organisations and community stakeholders to implement projects that address community needs through volunteerism and service.
