The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Kosofe Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, has announced plans to decentralise his campaign activities by taking engagements directly to communities across the three local councils in the constituency.
Oshinowo disclosed this during strategic pre-campaign meetings with the executive members of the Community Development Committees (CDCs) of Agboyi-Ketu and Ikosi-Isheri, as well as community development associations, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The former Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) said the initiative was designed to enable his campaign team meet directly with residents, listen to their concerns and understand their expectations of government.
He said the campaign team would no longer rely solely on centralised town hall meetings, but would visit communities across Kosofe Federal Constituency.
“We are here today to inform you that you should be expecting us in your various communities,” Oshinowo said.
According to him, the campaign team would distribute a timetable through CDC chairmen to enable communities prepare landlords and tenants for the engagements.
“In the past, we used to centralise our campaign meeting at a particular spot, but now we will visit all the various communities across the Kosofe Federal Constituency,” he said.
Oshinowo said the approach would allow the campaign to engage directly with residents and understand what they expect government to do for their communities.
He also thanked community leaders for their support during the APC primary election, recalling his tenure as chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
Reflecting on his administration, Oshinowo said he would rate his performance at 65 per cent, noting that his administration implemented several interventions for residents.
The APC candidate expressed confidence that he would emerge victorious in the 2027 election and represent Kosofe at the House of Representatives.
“Come next year June 2027, by the grace of God, I will be a member of the Kosofe House of Representatives, and I promise that I will not disappoint you,” he said.
Oshinowo also announced that more than 1,500 solar-powered street lights had been secured for distribution across the constituency.
He said the equipment would be distributed to communities in Kosofe Federal Constituency within the coming months.
As part of the engagement, Oshinowo donated N2 million each to the three councils that make up the federal constituency, urging community leaders to ensure that the funds benefit communities across their respective jurisdictions.
‘Come Out and Vote’
Earlier, the Director-General of the Mayor Dele Oshinowo Campaign Team, Princess Samiat Bada, urged community development associations to mobilise residents to participate actively in the 2027 elections.
Bada described community development associations as an important link between residents and government, stressing that their participation could influence electoral outcomes.
“The CDAs are the fourth tier of government and you are very important. You are the communities and you are the people that matter,” she said.
She urged landlords and tenants across the constituency to come out en masse and exercise their franchise during the election.
“When we are talking about elections, it is about you. If you come out en masse with the landlords and tenants in your communities, we will definitely see it in the outcome of the election results,” Bada said.
She added that the campaign team was relying on the support of community leaders to achieve its electoral objectives and assured residents that Oshinowo would represent their interests if elected.
The executives of the CDCs and community associations expressed appreciation to Oshinowo and his campaign team for the engagement and pledged their support for the campaign.
